My experience/opinion: I got a Special 5 H after lots of reading and videos because I ended up deciding all I needed was the "OG Ray". A year later I got a 2011 SLO 4 string with HH pickups and it's become my main bass. Now I want to sell my Special 5 H and am on the lookout for a Special 5 HH.

Wow that's sick. Very cool to hear they will still do a SLO neck! My 2011 SLO Stingray is my main bass, but I'd love to get one that doesn't weigh 11 pounds..

This thread and this comment in particular has me wondering if my 2011 Ray could sound better. I'm not unhappy with it, but also I've never played a 2 band. Or a different Stingray 3 band. FWIW I don't usually turn the EQ knobs more than 1/3 up or down. Usually just fine tune my tone depending...

I do gotta say I'm tickled to be hearing directly from you agedhorse after reading basically every thread on the Subway amps and cabs and gaining a lot of respect for your approach and the work that went into that line as well as others

Cool appreciate the added insight. I know a little about different levels and whatnot, but clearly not the whole enchilada. Well I'll try it out and see what it sounds like. I am a little curious though because I thought fx loops were mainly used by people sticking pedals in them, I think...

Thanks for pointing out that if using a Subway pre to just use it as the front and the use the TT for it's power amp section. I don't see myself doing that because I like the Boogie and Subway channels and it would be overkill to use one of those pres for just a couple of adjustable mid bands...

Recently got a Mesa TT-800 and am loving it. I like both channels. But I almost went for the WD800 because of those 3 sweepable mid bands. To scratch that itch (and my obsessive control one) I'm considering sticking an EQ in an fx loop. I have a WMD 3 band para EQ and am thinking to myself...

Thanks for the responses. I'll figure this all out after school is out for the summer.

This is a semi-related so maybe someone here can tell me if this is a good idea or not. I need to figure out some sort of shim since my new bridge is too tall even with the saddles bottomed out. I am considering routing out the bridge a little instead of shimming the neck. I need a good .5cm...
