Passive basses with both P and musicman style pickups?

Sandberg make a reverse P/MM combo bass. Invalid Link Removed. It has an active preamp but it can be passive if needs be, I think.

How many pedals do you have?

At last count, the mid 20's- probably into the 30's by now. I have multiple overdrives/distortions and fuzzes, and multiple reverbs/delays, a couple of modulation things, a few different pitch shifters and some utility stuff. I've never owned a compressor or an EQ though. It actually never seems...

First modulation pedal: Flanger, or phaser?

Essentially this. I find flangers fun, but in bands I tend to find it a bit over the top. If you like that jet sound stuff then a flanger is the thing. Personally I like having a phaser that can go nuts as well as do classic sounds. If you really like jet thing, the Ibanez Paul Gilbert Airplane...

Pedalboards of the Stars: Part IV

You mean, like every other element ending in 'ium'?

Pedalboards of the Stars: Part IV

You know I thought it was a joke about me complaining about 'Theater'. ...This has to be the first etymologically-based thread derailment on TB in a while.

    instrument shape & genre

Depends how lairy the shape is. I played a Jazz in a blackened death metal band, but I wouldn't play a BC Rich in a jazz band.

    NBD: Eastwood BV

I managed to snag this Eastwood BV for about £300 on eBay- A few little dents on the wings but absolutely nothing to worry about for the price (considering the only other ones I could see were three times the price). I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised that it feels quite a bit like a...

Pedalboards of the Stars: Part IV

Whilst I respect the skill involved, I hate almost everything to do with Dream Theater, right down to that hideous Bongo bass and the American spelling of Theatre.

Your Best Pedal Purchase of 2019?!

Pedals I bought this year: Mantic Vitriol, EHX MicroPOG, EHX black russian Big Muff. Dunlop Mini volume/Expression pedal. All of them are pretty damn great, but the Mantic is probably the best. It always sounds amazing, regardless of where you set the controls.

Always-on pedal to colour the signal before DI

I always liked the Catalinbread SFT for this kinda thing- It's supposed to replicate an SVT (I don't really think it manages it, but it gets that vibe). If you have the gain down it's not that aggressive overdrivey, and you can run it at 18V for more headroom.

NBD...! Epiphone content and a question

I regularly play my Thunderbird in BEAD and beefy strings- The bridge is fine. It's just a pain in the ass if you forget it will fall of with no strings on, and can be a pain to adjust. Your EB-3 should do fine. The idea of massive strings in BEAD is to maintain normal tension, so I don't see...

New to pedals... Help me pick out a fuzz!

I'm assuming the Violet Muffer is based on a Big Muff, they're known for having a weak midrange. If you otherwise like it, Minotaur Sonic Terrors (out of Greece) makes the Swamp Lord, which has a mids control. I bought one recently and it's everything in a band mix I always wished a Muff was, as...

    What is this fender....

Mods like this- However well done- always reduce the value, even if it might make it a better instrument. It's worth looking at the quality of the routing, if it's clean that could be a really cool instrument.

    Is it weird?

Basically, this (except fuzzes. I will always buy as many different fuzzes as possible. And if I'm honest, I am occasionally swayed by how a pedal looks). FWIW I'm not a big TC Electronic fan, they don't seem as sturdy as Boss or MXR pedals. Besides, noise gates are utility pedals, save the...

Connecting output of 2 pedals in parallel.

I would just get a mixer, they're phenomenally useful anyway. I picked up a DOD 240 Resistance Mixer- they're passive and cheap as hell, I think they made them forever (they come with a bunch of different graphics).
