ok, so the more recent reissue is a re-release of a 1979-1982 MIJ series that, themselves were based on USA 70's specs, albeit in fun "international" colors. So the reissues are "period correct" in as much as they reference the earlier MIJ release, but there was never a Morocco Red or Monaco...

MIJ Limited International Color Series uses 70's specs. i don't think the colors are actually period correct and the bodies are basswood but other than that, mine is indistinguishable from my usa 70's basses, apart from being lighter, better playing, and subtly more comfortable neck profile...

my opinion is to stick with 34" especially if you're used to upright. don't acclimate to a weirdo size. intonation problems and limited string options aside, 34" will feel a lot closer to the feel of an upright in regards to string tension, sonority and scale length of note intervals. imo, ime...
