    The Passinwind Open Source Preamp

Thanks @Passinwind I've spent a lot of time in the past building various synth filters from PCB's and so I know sourcing the right parts can sometimes take longer than the build - it's great to know you're standing in the wings!

I was looking at digikey.co.uk - I think they're shipment fee is £12. I'm waiting to see what the best options are! I'll update you when I know. I've just read through the whole thread and I'm really excited - board should be coming from a friend today! The things I'm considering (in the UK)...

I have almost exactly that setup in a bass (MM4.4) and it works really well. I think, if it's just the 9V and ground you should be fine. If you're going to sheild the inside at any point it'll be worth reading up about grounding: Understanding Guitar Grounding And Common Mistakes | Fralin...

Volume pot value has a a lot to do with high tone extension - but I agree on the passive - much as I like the John East MM pre for the range of tones I love the passive tone more - especially for recording - series/parallel really works for me.

I'm with bigtone23 on the mid sweep - lot of power there. And with tone stacks per pu I'd be worried about losing the natural tone with too much 'smear' from the eqs.

I got an email reply after a couple of weeks about a week ago - I think he might just be very busy?

John says: > The threads are all 10mm long allowing plate mount, with nuts behind, or through wooden body, the wood is normally ~6mm thick. Saves me trying to find a long thread C1M pot in the UK and building my own!

Thanks for the picture - I'll have a look at the body again, I asked John too so hopefully will get confirmation - cheers!

Anybody know if you could install the MMSR 3 KNOB 3 BAND preamp into a bass without a front chrome plate - where the holes for the pots are drilled through wood like a P-Bass or if I'd need to solder in longer pots?

Where do you like to put your compressor in the FX chain?

At the end of the chain to level the volume - but you guys have made me think, especially since I use an envelope follower maybe to put it first and make that more consistent, but subtly enough to not mess with the dynamics.

    Why no love?

In the UK I just bought a G&L L-2000 and the guy in the shop said lots of people played it and liked it but because the distribution in the UK has historically been patchy and nobody really knows them. I love the sound and the one I got is 10+ years old but clearly never really been played - the...

    And hello from me

Hi all, I've used the forum as a resource for a while and thought I'd start participating! The big bass change for me last year was moving to a drop B tuning on a 4 string peavy, which has left me with some intonation issues but also a big smile on my face whenever I hit that LOW B! Looking...

curtis mayfield - if there's a hell below

I know this an old thread - but I built one of these clones: Invalid Link Removed of the brass master - and I really love the tone - there is a lot of screetchy brassy tones but there is also a softer warmer side to the pedal with the slightly glitchy octave effect just adding a bit of...
