    The thick-callouses poll call

Definitely try super glue if you need some finger protection. It's cheap and readily available, and seals up blisters and creates a tough shell to get you through a few hours of playing. When I first started playing I used it on my plucking fingers until they toughened up. In regards to the...

    Your Housebass(es).

1975 Guild JS II I rarely play it any more, and I've thought about selling it numerous times - including earlier this week. But I've never been able to follow through. The fact that it's vintage makes it much more difficult for me to let go of it...and the history/story. Back in high...

    The Fender Jaguar Club

Absolutely. The part costs less than $1 - replace the pot. Super lame to have this happen, but Fender doesn't make the pots so I wouldn't be concerned over the quality of your instrument at all.

Unfinished bass bodies - gaps in the market?

Just out of curiosity I looked for 'em on your website and couldn't find 'em. I'm not at all ready to start a build, but curious on the price - do you have a link to your unfinished bodies? A while back there were some BBJ blanks on eBay, but I can't find anything anywhere right now. I thought...

    Fender Jaguar Wiring Schematic?

Can anyone tell me the pot values for #11 and #12? My master tone only modifies the tone by a small amount. I'm going to check the cap, but since pots are cheap I was thinking of replacing the pot/cap entirely. The active tone rollers (#12) don't do anything at all. I've triple-checked the...

Unfinished bass bodies - gaps in the market?

I realize this is an old thread, but I've been searching Billy Bo Jupiters lately, and this popped up. Figured I'd cast my vote(s), even if the polls are closed! Really want to build a BBJ some day...and maybe a 'Bird (reverse or not) too. That Sea Foam 'Bird is a beaut!

    What's your favorite headstock?

Fender often bores me in general (Strats, Ps), but when they do something right I love it (Jaguar, Mustang). I like their standard oversized headstock, but their headstock I like the most is this: As for BASS headstocks - most bore me (at best), but Thunderbird and Flying V both work really...

    Refinishing Jaguar

I've got a lot of other projects before I get to another instrument. Hopefully finishing up a metal coffee table frame this weekend, which will be the next thing I paint. Then a bike frame. But I do really want to paint another bass/guitar. I'd love to do another Jag, or a Tele (guitar)...or...

Are expensive basses (rickenbacker, American standard fender, etc.) worth it?

I'll add a qualifier to this statement: if I made significantly more money then I might pay Fender's prices.

Are expensive basses (rickenbacker, American standard fender, etc.) worth it?

Skimmed through this thread and had a couple thoughts: 1 - Always buy used. What's the point in paying full price? Buying used automatically brings the price down at least a few hundred bucks. 2 - Yes, there really is a difference in quality. I was skeptical. But a year or two ago I found...

    Purple Bass Club

I already posted these in two other threads, and didn't want to spam the boards. But since this thread got bumped up I guess I'll post 'em here too:

    The Fender Jaguar Club

Finished this up a few weeks ago. Well, maybe not quite finished - the bass/treble rollers on the active plate don't do anything. Double/triple-checked and they're wired according to the wiring diagram. I'm not overly concerned about it, but would like to get them working eventually...or mod...

    Refinishing Jaguar

It's been a while, but I got my pickguard a few weeks back and finished putting my Jag back together. Finally got around to taking some photos of the finished product. Overall I'm pretty happy with it, but I really want to refinish another now!

Fly your Metal Flake Freak Flag!

I'm working on finishing up a purple metal flake refinish on a Jaguar: Refinishing Jaguar Unlike some of the photos in this thread, the flake isn't really apparent in my photos. For one, I used Roth Baby Flake (tiny), and it's buried in a deep kandy purple. And then there's the fact I used...
