Adding Midrange Speaker/Crossover to 2x15 Cab

Unfortunately this means I'm cab-less until I get that speaker in. :( Maybe I can slap that old Peavey back in and temporarily seal the port... blah.

Adding Midrange Speaker/Crossover to 2x15 Cab

Unfortunately, I never made it to the port tuning stage. No use in tuning a busted speaker. You'll like this. When I knocked out the triangles filling the ports it was just layers of cardboard glued together. Another thing I thought I'd add. One of the wires going to the speaker cone was very...

I guess I'm not as stupid as I look! :D

Adding Midrange Speaker/Crossover to 2x15 Cab

Well, I finally got everything built, crossover and speakers installed, and one of my 3015LFs sounded terrible. I checked over all the connections, then I ran the single 3015LF direct to the amp at 8 ohms to rule out the crossover and it still sounded ugly. There is a staticy distortion at any...

Adding Midrange Speaker/Crossover to 2x15 Cab

Well, this is my plan for a simple 2nd order Linkwitz Riley crossover. Please let me know if I screwed something up or if I need to add anything else. :hmm: I may have asked this before, but I don't think I quite understood. When the crossover calculator (...

Hahaha, I love this guy. :D

    1x15 w/ 6" driver like a modular Berg NV215 ??

I'm essentially building the same thing as alex, but a 2x15 with a 6" midrange. Ported with separate chambers for the 15s and the 6 sealed in the upper chamber because I'm retrofitting them into an existing 2x15 Peavey cab. I'm using the 3015LFs and the 6ND410. I easily got both off...

Adding Midrange Speaker/Crossover to 2x15 Cab

Thanks man, I replied with a random monologue that included my thoughts on the cab situation, life in general, and Indian curry...

Adding Midrange Speaker/Crossover to 2x15 Cab

I can look this up, if I knew what I was looking for... I know it's measured in mH, would that be the same as Le, Coil Inductance? The 6ND410 is .67 mH and each 3015LF is .92 mH.

Adding Midrange Speaker/Crossover to 2x15 Cab

Thanks Passinwind, all the support and suggestions I've received are more than helpful. I'll have to look at that impedance curve to better understand. I know I'll have to review it some more, but this is my tentative shopping list. I am using 2 3015LFs and greenboy's suggested 6ND410...

Adding Midrange Speaker/Crossover to 2x15 Cab

That did cross my mind, but I was concerned that the overall impedance of the cab would get screwed up. I was under the impression that the two way crossover would compensate for the fact that the woofers in parallel are at 4 ohms and the midrange is at 8 ohms. Maybe not so? I envisioned the...

Adding Midrange Speaker/Crossover to 2x15 Cab

And to think all I wanted to do was slap two new 15s in my cab... I think my head is going to explode. >< Where does the lpad control actually wire into the circuit?

Adding Midrange Speaker/Crossover to 2x15 Cab

Ah yes, I am just now fully reading the http://www.lalena.com/Audio/FAQ/XOver/ link. Sorry about that, my bad. Why does the 605Nd list with an impedance of 8ohms, but a Thiele Small impedance of 6 ohms? I am trying to calculate the Series Notch Filter for the midrange speaker.
