want to get an old tube bass amp head

Early 60s to late 70s. Yep, pretty much all of them can be used on guitar with great results. Tons of people play YBA-1s and they sound awesome, I play guitar through a YBA-4 myself. Sure, if we're talking about the overrated thousand watters of today, but if you have some good efficient...

Acoustic 220? or Peavey Mark III?

    Go for the Acoustic!

    Old amp into power amp

I'd go with something more high-quality instead of the Behringer, something like a Radial. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

    vancouver amp repairpeople...

Backline is a joke, I got a quote from them one time to get the filter caps replaced in my old tube amp and they quoted me $200. I take my amps to Minsoo at Pure Sound in North Van. He's a great guy, knows his stuff (tubes and SS) and he is very fair with his prices. A top notch tech!

    Acoustic 150b

They sure don't! I have an ACC 140 which is identical to your 150b, but it's from one generation after yours. I love the way it sounds, it's my main amp at this point in time and I don't see it changing for a looong time. I run it with a Peavey 1x18" (and soon my ACC 300 once I get it serviced...

Acoustic Model 406 2x15 cab for only 40 bucks!

Acoustic cabs are great, they were top of the line professional gear back in the day. Check the specifics on the Acoustic wiki. I <3 my Acoustics.

Music Man HD 130, bass amp? Opinions please

Power tubes ARE the tube sound, not the preamp tubes. Haters just don't know.

    Traynor Series II PM-100

Is that the one that's been floating on craigslist for a little while now? If so, it looks to be in great shape. I think that I wouldn't pay any more that $150 and I'd even try to drop it to $120 or so. The reason is that it's pretty underpowered by modern standards (even though they are...

Help me - need new speaker(s) and possibly cab mods - porting/tuning/etc gurus wanted

Yeah, Traynor's customer support was great, but it didn't seem very technical. Eminence's customer support was great too, even more so than Traynor. I'm still not 100% sure of which speakers to go with, so please chime in if you'd like.

Help me - need new speaker(s) and possibly cab mods - porting/tuning/etc gurus wanted

Yeah, that's all I got out of the simulation too, but I was thinking that maybe there was something else. I'm hoping that Bill can chime in on this.

Calling Bill F!! I think that I will be getting new speakers for the Traynor soon and I was wondering what you would say about putting Delta-15LF's in there over the Beta-15's. I contacted Eminence's customer support a while ago and they told me that the Delta-15LF's will work too and they'll...

Old Acoustic amps vs modern power amps

I've somewhat recently fallen in love with the vintage Acoustics (who could resist that awesome baby blue colour?). I'm not super fond of the typical "modern" tone and I like a warm, middy tone which seems to be looked at as vintage. The old Acoustics deliver in this department as far as I can...

What's a good webstore to order speakers?

I need to order some new speakers for some cabs that I'm fixing up. What's a good webstore that sells 'em? I need them to be able to ship to Canada. Cheers.

    Speaker Experts (Or Not)

AFAIK, you'd be getting less high end with a paper cone than with an aluminum one.
