Never had much luck with Ho. Richard at Backline has been looking after my old SVT for years, nothing but good things to say about thier service. I've recommended them to quite a few people and never heard a complaint.

After no luck getting my amp repaired in my hometown I searched out a Vancouver tube guy on the net. I found this thread and called Dave Videt. I drove 3.5 hrs one way to bring my 64 Fender Bandmaster to Dave. Met him today at his home shop. Heck of a nice guy. Left my amp with him to hopefully fix up. I'll post my findings on here once I get it back.

And yes, he's a player and sounded great thru my amp. I feel as if the amp is in good hands. We'll see. Thx for posting Dave's contact info.

Dave Vidal got it right, and fixed my amp quickly and professionally, the first time. Highly recommend.
Finally, this has been a long ordeal figure out what was wrong with my amp, and getting it fixed.

I too have had work done by Dave Vidal. talk about a players player, he is as real a deal as you will ever witness. he winds pick ups, makes pick ups, set ups. his modded silverface Super Reverbs are easily one of the best amps I've ever played. great guy.

Backline is a joke, I got a quote from them one time to get the filter caps replaced in my old tube amp and they quoted me $200. I take my amps to Minsoo at Pure Sound in North Van. He's a great guy, knows his stuff (tubes and SS) and he is very fair with his prices. A top notch tech!

As far as a speaker repair place goes these guys are excellent http://vancouveraudiospeakerclinic.com/ I've had many repairs done by them, never had an issue and they're always willing to sit down and talk shop with you about speaker selection and cab design/choice.

An update. Dave Vidal doesn't really do ampeg amps anymore, at least not svt's, he's just been too burnt out the last time I talked to him. He enjoys working on Fenders more and did a great job with my YBA-3 and I will probably ask Dave to help recap my B15N. He also recommended Minsoo for servicing my SVT. Ho's good too.

Folks at VASC are really nice, but Dave Lee, the owner, just passed away this past weekend, so I'd probably take speaker repairs to Kinetic Sound. Backline is very professional, but their bench rate is quite high.
