I was only thinking about a neck replace. I much rather pay, probably about the same since the Plek is $300 plus 2 sets of strings, so about $400. They say one is made unusable through the PLEK machining.

Well the short/long of it is that when the action is adjusted to optimal height, it results in a lot of string buzz on the G string, pretty much all the way down the neck. When I returned it to have the buzz removed, the best solution he could find was to increase relief and raise the strings...

Wow, thank's for all of the narrative. I really love this Cazpar bass. It's light, looks beautiful, and has great tone. I bought it second hand for 1k, and since it's left handed short scale, it's one of those that I would not have found anywhere. It is playable: although the strings sit higher...

It seems I have a second possibility of a shop outside of Columbus, oh. Just out of curiosity, were any of the bass guitars that you had plekked experiencing string buzz due to the neck shape?

I wonder if sweetwater might do it if I bring them the instrument. I know they offer it on guitars that they sell.

I took the bass back to my local luthier who did the original set up. He was able to get rid of the buzz. The string height seems a bit wonky. The neck bend is higher in the mid section. String height between the 7-9 fret on the E string is about 3.3 mm from bottom of the string to top of the...

Beautiful Basses! How much do you like/love the Lionel? I have had my eye on one for some time. And what is the nut width? I wonder how close it comes to a Fender P feel in terms of the neck.

Hola everyone, I recently received a used Mensinger Cazpar 4. I picked it up from a London seller for about $950. It is a beautiful bass made in 2010 and I love its tone and pickup configuration. I am having one big problem with it. There is a nasty high pitched buzz on the G string (and...

Double Bass "Cheater Lines" or not? (position markers)

He is a kid who has been learning since the age of 5. But of course it’s an observation. He’s not an expert. The point being made was that it’s not “cheating.”

Double Bass "Cheater Lines" or not? (position markers)

I had this conversation with my 14 yo son. A pretty good cellist who plays with with local and school orchestras. He thought it was not cool to call them cheater lines. In effect he said, all string instrument players (violin, viola, cello, and double bass) use tape to learn basic positioning at...

Double Bass "Cheater Lines" or not? (position markers)

I love it when a musician reveals, "Hey that might work for a lot of people, but this works best for me." I am like that both as a left handed and short scale player. There is always someone willing to say "do it the way I (and maybe most people) think is right." But the player often knows what...

Replacing classic tuners with modern ones

I've noticed there is also this style that combines traditional clover and modern . Has anyone tried them?
