HI. I made the valvecaster using a 12au7 tube and it sounds really nice on my passive Fender Jazz bass,. I did a mod however, which allows for more low end to come through the pedal. Thius circuit is originally for guitar. However im getting warm, tube overdrive and use it alot

thanks alot b-string. im going through the DI with a higher volume to compensate. If I use send I loose my boost. But DI is quite a bit lower output.I guess I was wondering if DI is often use with another source of amplification at the reciving end, like a PA or such.

I have a question regarding the direct out vs the send out. I am trying to run a signal to my PC soundcard for recording/online jam session. I find that when I use the send out (FX loop) I get a stronger signal than when I use a XLR cable from the direct out. The direct out has a weaker signal...

thanks winston that is excellent advice. I was thinking of trying D'addario chromes. Ive never used these before, Since I dont want to take too much of the highs out of the tone, I though this a good choice. I wonder if anyone could comment on this point.

Hi, MartinG1957 thnaks for you reply. In a nutshell I find many people enjoy these mid and higher Ibanez for their feel, play and weight, but perhaps, like me, wish to have a warmer, more classic tone. This is my dilemma, and the only way out I can see is to customize. Thats a good suggestion...

honestly, i do know what im looking for in the tone and am hoping someone can advise as far as electronics that suit this bass as an upgrade, but thanks for your input.
