I had to play my Ibby SR500 in drop B Saturday for a stone sour cover and it sounded great. My string gauges are just the usual .105. I think it might just have to do with your personal attack.......I'm pretty heavy handed finger style, but I was using a pick on that song too though.

I've played both and owned a 305, I also agree with the above to try to move up to a 505. It seemed to me that the string spacing on the Jackson was way narrow, which I guess would be good for some ppl.

I actually just acquired the Ampeg B2RE Saturday in a gear trade. I've only used it once at practice so far, but I was impressed. At the moment I'm only running 250 watts at 8 ohms (4x10 carvin RL). Still will bump up to 4 ohms at some point to get the full 450 watts. It took some getting used...

Here's what I'm currently working with. Peavey Combo 115 and Carvin 4x10 cab. Unfortunately, I'm not pushing full power through the cab, as it's 8 ohm and my extension jack is 4 ohm. Looking to get rid of the combo and my 5 string to fund a head.
