    New Empress Drive

The DCX sounds very nice, but it is very expensive. I don’t have it anymore but I didn’t find it at all better than other quality bass drive pedals. I use and enjoy the Broughton Azure, Fliptop, Scorpion, SolidGoldFX BetaV, Damnation MBD3, Lusithand Rosa and Ground’n’Pound, Darkglass Vintage...

    New Empress Drive

I have it, don’t quite like it, I find it very high gain and a little harsh sounding, and lacks body and punch. I keep the drive and blend both at 25%. It works for bass guitar but doesn’t sound right, as is often the case with “all-instrument” effects pedals on bass.

Is Anybody Familiar With This Pedal: Lusithand F1

I put mine first as a boost/buffer and HPF, and you already have another HPF at the end. The second channel I use as band-pass for mid-frequencies, which I can tune out or blend some in, for drive pedals farther along.

    Educate me about Diamond compressors

To me optical compressors (like Diamond, Alma, Omnicomp, LAB) round out and even out the attack, not reduce it. Sort of reduces harshness and offense and brings out the nice part of bass guitar tone. But we all like what we like I suppose.

    Lusithand pedals, nice.

Is there a way to A/B 2 preamps into 1 amp?

I’ve done this using two passive Radial ABY splitters. Being passive they work in both directions, so one to split, followed by one to merge (or switch selectable A or B into Y).

Which pickguard would you use on this P?

Mint, woody leathery brown tort, black.

    Diamond is BACK baby!!

I have and had many compressors. Empress, Broughton Omni, Lusithand Alma, Union Tube&Transistor Lab, Origin Effects Cali, Fairfield Accountant. The Diamond is easily my favourite. Tone, simplicity, design, aesthetics, ergonomics. If Diamond is planning for a new version someday, I would...

Is Anybody Familiar With This Pedal: Lusithand F1

Don’t understand this one yet but I’ll keep trying. Isn’t this just blending two identical signals, which would be the same as either? If it was stacking two HPFs I imagine it steepens the slope.

Is Anybody Familiar With This Pedal: Lusithand F1

What do you mean? I also realized the peculiarity of blending an unaffected high with unaffected low in HPF and LPF mode, but as you say it works. I sometimes find a straight HPF/LPF like the Broughtons and the Empress bass paraEQ have an unsubtle effect that doesn’t always sound right. The...

Is Anybody Familiar With This Pedal: Lusithand F1

Empress pedals tend to be that way with every control possible. I personally prefer simpler pedals that have a special something, like the F1. The bandbass and pan features make this much more interesting than the Broughton RFE.

Is Anybody Familiar With This Pedal: Lusithand F1

Got one, very effective and fun to use. Less functions than the full-feature Empress Bass para eq (and more than the Broughton RFE) but the quirky functions allow for different tone shaping.

Testing Compressors: Cali, Smoothie, Empress, Diamond, Keeley, FEA, Darkglass, Doc Lloyd, Lusithand & more

The current Diamond can be run at 18V (which I do). I use passive Fender precisions but usually have some boost/gain pedal before the Diamond, haven’t noticed any issues.
