you are correct John - the power was the issue. Once we turned off AC in the house, all was fixed! There is one more issue - the power transformer (left most black box) is rattling. Do you know the fix for this? Thanks..josh

Hmmm, is it a very loud rattle? By that I mean is it too noticeable not to hear while playing? i was thinking that maybe it was the spring hitting the tube and the tube came unsaddled in shipping, causing the power cycle problem?
