Double Bass Looking to buy an EUB... Best affordable tone?

Hi,

I'm looking to purchase an EUB and have heard that the Palatino and NS WAV basses are great. I want something affordable but something that DOES NOT SOUND CHEAP. I want real smooth double bass type tone.

What should I go with?? Does the NS sound or feel like a cheapo or is it a fairly nice instrument?

Any suggestions are welcome.
