Currenlty have a stock Dean Rhapsody 12 in my collection, and a custom job 8 string fretless wishbass. Still working on the wish, but its coming along nicely, had it built it as a project bass knowing that I would have to finish it and it sounds amazing!

I am in the process of 'finishing' my Wishbass - custom order 8 string (octaves) JB. Just wondering if anyone has tried to reduce the depth of the neck of their wish? Sounds like a dangerous idea, and to be honest at present it isnt really a problem as i wear my 8 string wish slightly higher...

For covers I usually use the existing line with a few fills thrown in. For original work I prefer to have a cd of the demo and 'live' with the tune for a while - I find that its all well and good jamming it to get the basic riff but for me the best basslines always appear as I'm listening back...

Whoops, me too, Steve then Cliff, thats what started me off!! But it was always Steve that made me want to play bass, Cliff came later!!

A metallic red Marlin Sidewinder was my first bass way back in 1987/1988. It was fine to learn on as a first bass and did fine for me as a bedroom practice / learning instrument. I followed it with a precision being a major Steve Harris fan, sold it onto my younger brothers friend to learn...

Yes its cheesy, but you got to remember when it came from.... thats like saying the bells/rain intro to 'Black Sabbath' is cliched...of course it is NOW, but back then it was fresh and vital. You got to remember 'Kill 'Em All' is now almost 25 years old, maybe you were around when it came...

Got to agree, very very underrated bassist, in fact not so much underrated as overlooked, solely because he played in a 'teen' band!! Shouldnt detract from his ability - just check him out, if like me you were around in the 80's Duran Durans bass tone was not really much of a topic of conversation!!
