Easiest fix is a big "nerf" ball stuffed under the tailpiece, thus damping any unwanted resonances.

Pictures of your setup might show us something you're missing. The stock tailpiece could vibrate sympathetically, what are you using in its place?

I'll chuck the collet into a lathe and turn it down to match the hole. Much more cost effective than replacing the block for the next end pin that is too small.
