    Playing with Pain

Got a daughter who is a trainee physio, and a doctor appt. on Monday. We'll see how it goes. I know Alexander Technique could help but don't know anyone nearby who does it.

    Playing with Pain

Anyone have any tips or recommendations. I'm getting arthritis/carpal tunnel in my hands (not just from bass playing) , some of the joints are inflamed, particularly the one at the base of the little finger on my right hand. It's painful to play but I don't want to stop, I have a gig in 10...

    Any female bassists? Need motivation

I'm a female bassist. I didn't start with a teacher. I just started and picked it up as I went along. I have a good ear, and already played guitar. About a year ago I decided I wanted to get serious with it. I listen to bass lines on everything, watch the bass players in every band I...

Is there anyone to prevent fret buzz??? Is there anything you can buy?

That's what we did and it's a lot better now. The action was raised just a tad but not high enough to make it hard to play. It still clicks a bit if I hit it really hard but you're right, you don't hear it in the mix. Happy days!:bassist:

Is there anyone to prevent fret buzz??? Is there anything you can buy?

    Looking to try flatwounds again!

I'm using Rotosound Jazz Smoothwounds, liking the big thumpy sound.

    Favorite basslines to listen to

The second, faster section of "Sometime World" from the album "Argus" by Wishbone Ash. Martin Turner plays a gorgeous melodic bass line and then he sings, in a completely different rhythm, over the top of it (how does he DO that?). It wasn't overdubs, because they did it at their live gigs...

    Westone Spectrum GT

Thanks Geoff. That's a lovely looking bass you have there. I'm not envious at all, not at all, really I'm not.. :crying: According to Westone's info website : http://www.westone.info/spectrumgtbass.html - the bridge pickup is the Magnabass IV and the neck pickup is the III. It'd be...

    Westone Spectrum GT

Hi, newbie on the forum *waving all the way from the North West of Ireland* I recently acquired a beautiful Westone Spectrum GT bass and it is perfect in every respect, except that the small problem with one of the pickups that I thought was due to dodgy wiring appears to be a bigger problem...

    Magnabass IV pickups

Hi, newbie on the forum here, all the way from the North West of Ireland *waving* I recently came into possession of a Westone Spectrum GT bass, gorgeous piece of kit, perfect in every respect except a small problem with one of the pickups (wiring or such, I thought). Turned out the small...
