    Buying back an old bass

Well, I have run out of money on too many occasions. I have a couple of Muckelroys that may need new homes soon at this particular downturn.

    Buying back an old bass

70 something Fender Jazz I sold in 1980. I thought remembered who had sold it to. He says not him. Im still prodding my 70+ year old memory to help me remember. Hell, he's probably dead by now anyway. t was my first really great bass. I play Muckelroys now but a couple may have to go due to...

    Getting used to a 5

Back in 1995, I bought my first 5 string and gigged it that same evening. Big mistake. It only took my much younger brain a short time to adapt. I can switch back and forth now with ease. But my secret is to keep my eyes off my left hand and visualize whats going on instead. To this day I still...

What happens to the band when the leader dies suddenly?

In 1994, I as called by an old friend to fill in on bass with a Houston-based country band. The BL was the bassist and shared vocal duties with his son. Check out Brady Muckelroy's FB pages. Neck thru, Set Neck, Bolt-on. Each made to order. I have three Neck Thru and one bolt-on. My avatar is maple neck-thru with black walnut wings, ebony board and alder tone block. It was a custom build.

How many of us sing while playing?

Harmonies or leads, whatever is called upon. I have trained my brain over the years. Anyone can.

Body wood/top biases, and well - the never wood for you...

I'm partial to Cherry. Lightweight and tasteful. The full length neck and body wings here are all Cherry. And the Wenge board on this same Muckelroy HMC is beautiful and, to my 69 year old and half deaf ears has a response much like Ebony.

Not sure if it's an abomination or if I want one....

I think I'd take a pass. But thanks for playing.
