    Going above the speakers rating??

Greetings all, Can I use an amp rated a little bit above the rating of my cab? Currently, I have an SWR workingpro 210 that can take up to 200 watts RMS which I power with an SWR workingman's 15 combo (160/200, I think, for 8/4 ohms respectively). I want to switch to a smaller and more...

Can't slap/pop to save my life

Let's start a different thread: "I don't like slap and I don't think anyone should learn it" I bet that would be fun, informative, and self-reinforcing to those who don't like slap. And best of all, the posts to that thread won't interfere with reasonable questions, such as the one...

    rebuilding a combo into a cab/amp modular?

Greetings all, First of all, let me be up front that I'm not sure if this is a serious question or a theoretical one. Background: I've been playing through an SWR 115 workingman combo (circa 2002), ~ 70lbs. It's been ok. Not bad for what it is, but overall it lacks punch and volume. I...

Can't slap/pop to save my life

I have to speak up against this attitude. It's as though no one should learn to slap, it's as though it should be banned. There's nothing wrong with wanting to have different skills and sounds. It doesn't mean the player is "just being a Youtube 'bassist'". Play well, however you do it!

    Staining my SVT 810

Just an FYI for those posting about particle board... That's not particle board, but OSB (oriented strand board) also know as "chip board". OSB is mad out of lot's of bigger chips of wood, pressed and essentially glued together. It's much better than "particle board". But as someone above...

    Ohms FAQ

Good stuff - learning a lot. Here's my question: I run two 8ohm cabinets in parallel on an amp that runs 160 into 8ohm or 200 into 4 ohm. Does the wattage equally divide between the two cabinets (100watts to each cabinet) ? (this is my current set up) One of the cabinets only takes 200...

    The CORT Club!!!

I'll need to take a pic and post it, but I wanted to describe how I came to love and buy my Cort B4 fretless. While I like to browse in music stores, I am not an impulsive buyer. Back in 2002, I was in a big chain store, kicking tires with no real interest in making a purchase. I wasn't even...
