I put a Subdecay Quasar in that spot (space on the board, no real need ) and have zero regrets. Envelope phaser mode is like a less peaky envelope filter.

Seems like you could get away with trying to use the other channels and see if that works out. I've seen many 8 channel Mackies with a piece of tape that says (bad channel) on it doing serviceable work.

I love the idea of a multi, but I've spent too much time fumbling at home, then fumbling at rehearsal. The nice thing about a board is if an effect isn't working I just turn it off and figure it out later. No menu surfing.

I have an OmniCabSim Mini, and it does have a high noise floor compared to the other stuff on my board at the same relative output, but no matter how loud you crank the volume on it that noise level just stays put, so it's pretty easy to get the signal to noise ratio whittled down to nil.
