    That should not have passed quality control except as B stock or been refinished. The veneer showing isn't great, but the nut is terrible and you shouldn't accept it. If I saw that on a 300 series I would return it, never mind on a 1400. Ibby QC is normally top notch so this is a surprise.

    It's a lesser known fact, but an active bass can save you money. As it has a built in pre-amp, you can plug straight into a cab without the un-necessary expense of an amp. And the shorter signal path gives a cleaner, tighter sound. Win-win!
