    Most bands too loud?

We played without any PA, only with our instruments combos (e.g.: I was playing guitar, my Les Paul through my Laney LX, using my Roland Micro-Cube as an FX-box (amp modeling, you know?) and my voice through an old '80's FBT voice amp, with ole' tape delay and a dedicated cab) in a night club...

    Most bands too loud?

Amps too loud? Band too loud? BUT IS THE FEELING LOUD ENOUGH? Let me introduce the feeling (or a part of it): she is my hmmm-sister... Sister, because we had only a kinda sister-brother relationship, since 1987.. We played together, we touched jazz together etc. Now, we meet each 10 years (even...

Stuff you hate to hear another Bassist Say

Well, help yourself! Any way you want it (as Journey used to say), if you wanna discover the unknown (I mean the East European) side of music, I'll be there for you - [email protected] - if I can help you. Even if now I play the blues, I still feel my steel (Whoaaa, nice lyrics: "still...

    Most bands too loud?

Well, I play onstage since 1983; in my opinion, if you need to play loud, loudness is what you need. If the moment needs something soft, just soften the loudness, and your drummer will change his sticks for brushes... I felt OK at 5000 Watts, but, sometimes, I felt better in a small club...

Stuff you hate to hear another Bassist Say

I'm very glad to read that you liked these Romanian (should I say "Rockmanian") bands/musicians; I must admit I'm not quite a forum-topics-etc. guy; maybe that's why I don't know how-where-when to post all these links. Also, I'm not quite a computer guy: only for my job ("Word" and similar stuff...

Stuff you hate to hear another Bassist Say

Well, it seems it was my fault: I didn't knew the difference between a guitard and a guitarrist; i thought that "guitard" was a pejoratif term for the 6-stringer. Here, in Romania (Hmmm, you know, Dracula and stuff, huh!), musicians are mostly susceptible to follow the American trends. In fact...

Stuff you hate to hear another Bassist Say

Wella, I come back with the same good ole' question: why blaming guitarrists? I mean the real ones. In fact, I believe you can drive a car each monday and a bike tuesdays and fridays, ok? You can play piano and harpsichord (Keith Jarett, e.g.). You can cook vegetables and pork. You can also...

Stuff you hate to hear another Bassist Say

Well... I was playing, just playing and thinking at everything in the world except the watch; my friend, the owner, was the first to notice (but too late!) that I was wearing the watch on my right wrist (as I usually do), digging slowly into the sunburst finish... After playing my part and...

Stuff you hate to hear another Bassist Say

The worst was not something I heard, but something I did myself: I borrowed from a friend of mine his Jazz Bass for half an hour of gig in a big club (in fact, I was a kind of a guest in his band's show: I was in the audience, but he invited me to play - that's why I had no gear). Well, I played...

Stuff you hate to hear another Bassist Say

"Whaaaa! What a long guitar!" Merry Christmas! In fact, why blaming guitarists playing bass? I had my first gig as a guitarist in 1983 and the first as a bass player in 1986. Since that decade, I used in my guitar evolution all what I've learned on the bass (and double-bass) and vice-versa. I...
