Advice please: Home playing = lower volume = different size cab/speaker?

I use my gigging rig at home, but at low volume I turn up the lows a bit to compensate for the perceived loss of gain in that frequency range. Good ol' Fletcher-Munson curves at work..... :)

Guitar Players..and while we're at it.....

IMHO George Harrison got it right more often than any other guitarist that I am aware of.

    I Blame You, TB...

TB has confirmed my suspicion that there are LOTS of 'right ways' to play bass.... I just had no idea how many right ways there are!

    Your favorite light amp

I use the 1x10 ported cab. Weighs 25 lbs. sounds good and seems quite efficient. No tweeter though, if that is an issue.

    Your favorite light amp

Ditto on the Promethean.... I love mine .... Light weight ... Loud enough...run an Eden extension cab with it.

    Quit my college jazz band...

Deja vu moment for me... I had a very similar experience when I went to college. Had been playing for four years...I had devoured Jerry Coker's book IMPROVISING JAZZ, learned my scales and modes and where to use them... could play well off a chord chart... But was a poor reader. Went to the...

Do You Have Multiple Basses But Gig the Same Bass(es)

I own a P, a J, an EB2, an Ibanez active 5, an Alvarez A/E, and P bass Lyte deluxe, all of which are used on recordings. For for live gigs it is the P bass Lyte 95% of the time as the 3 band active eq offer lots of control 'on the fly' to compensate for the room, the mix, etc. The Alvarez gets...

what songs to learn improve bass playing?

Not sure what styles you are wanting to concentrate on, but being an 'old school' bassist myself, I found the playing of Barry Oakley (Allman Brothers) and Gary Thain(Uriah Heep) very inspirational. IN MEMORY OF ELIZABETH REED, WHIPPING POST, and MOUNTAIN JAM by the Allmans, and any track off...

    6X12 build?

I kinda like the idea of running two cabs.... One on each side of the stage. It seems to create a lot of presence, but I can still hear everyone else. If I need more juice in the room, I DI to the PA system.
