Most of your favorite songs were probably recorded with a P bass, that should tell you something. It just sounds good in a mix and hits a sweet spot of what people (perhaps unconsciously) want to hear from a bass

A small piece of the nut from my p-bass just broke off at the E string, and I still have the broken piece. Is it possible for me to glue this back on, or do I need to bite the bullet and replace the whole nut? It's a vintage bass that's all original so I'd rather not replace it if possible.

The serial numbers look almost photoshopped on the neck plate. The neck looks like it could be legit, or a more recent avri. I would pass on this though

I'm no Beato fanboy or anything, but he has decades of experience playing, writing and recording music and can credibly state his case on these things. I'll take his word any day over some 25 year old pitchfork hipster writer who has no frame of reference

Your post essentially boils down to you disagreeing with something that a random subset of people believe. You seem to already be locked into your position that these people are wrong, so what are you looking for exactly? I've played both models of the basses mentioned and they're both great...

IMO the sign of a great bassist is serving the song and he does a fine job of that. He's clearly not Jaco but Wilco would sound terrible if he were.

For a custom shop bass that you'll presumably want to keep for the long haul, you should take it to a luthier and have them replace the dark dots with typical lighter colored ones. The stickers get the job done ( I use them on lesser basses) but for a lifer type of bass just replace them

This is such a sleeper bass, I played about a dozen shows with one of these and I loved it.

I'm sure it's an unnecessary cost to begin with, but damn their margins must be really tight if this is where they're making cuts
