NBD: Fender American Standard Dimension Bass IV HH: Why all the hate for Dimensions?

No hate here. I changed out the pickguard though, and I like it better.

To be worn or not to be worn

I prefer to own the Journeyman Relic that the Fender Custom Shop puts out rather than their Heavy Relic. When I bought my Pino, I chose one with a slightly less relic job.

    Best short scale basses?

Check out Low End Lobster’s review of the Sire U5 (it’s a PJ). Looks pretty good, and for the price, I ended up ordering one. My only other short scale experience is the Gibson SG, which is one of my favorite basses and it’s neither a P or a J.

Fender MIM Limited Edition 70's precision and jazz basses

I second this... and third (if that’s a thing).

    Fender P for the masses

Those are a couple of nice pin-up models you have there. Screamin’ sexy. To the OP, those are both excellent choices. Be careful, if you lack discipline (like me), you’ll talk yourself into needing both. And if you ever see them displayed like above, you’ll be like “Please take my money”.

Sublime bass artistry... or re-purposed driftwood?

Found a production shot. Kind of like sausage making. But the end result doesn’t look too bad.

Just musing here....Dilemma (my) P vs (my) J - which to keep?!?!

I understand needing $$$$. But really, just flip a coin. My guess is, and these threads are full regret stories, whichever one you decide to part with, you’ll be wishing you never let go. I don’t think there will be a shortage of takers.

today was supposed to be a NBD

I’ve had nothing but excellent service from Willcutt. Their Fender Bass inventory is good too.

    Mex vs USA fender... discuss.

I currently only have American Fenders, but have heard great reviews on the Mexican Fenders. So much so, that I’ve taken a closer look at them at my local GC. They look pretty darn good to me, although the necks were bananas (I don’t know they don’t do a set up before the hang them out, it’s...

Is this Fender Jazz Bass American Special original?

When I typed in the serial # at the Fender site this came up. Not sure if that is the color the bass is supposed to be, but it’s spot on with the dozen or so basses I have.

    NBD...pleasant surprise! G&L

Mine is staying tortoise. Although black might look good too. If you change out the pick guard, post pics please.

Fender Pro Jazz v. Original 60s

The Pro has the newer v-mod pickups and the Original 60’s should have the 64(maybe) pickups. The pickup positions maybe different from each other. Don’t know for sure on that one. Then there is the neck, bridge and tuners difference. I think altogether a different bass. And while not a true...
