The Official Fender Precision Bass Club (Part 8)

Korean-made means they were Samick's if I'm not greatly mistaken. Squiers were excellent for the money, when they were Samick made.

For a time after the Samick fabrications, I found the build quality took a bit of a dive and, while I haven't played a Squier in a few years, I don't think the quality has yet re-attained its former level.

Just got this today - Chang era Squier Bass MIK. Put some LaBella flats on here and Look out Motown.

...but does it play like... it looks?

Any bass (ok, most any bass) can be liked I you allow it. I'm 100% behind this. (as in - it's the player... not is much the bass)

Yeap you are correct. But I have picked up many MIM and MIJ - never a MIK model and just the feel of this in your hands is way different than the rest of the Squier basses. And as I keep telling people do not buy a Rick to sound like Chris Squire - you will not be able to copy that sound. AS I have seen him play a 75 Jazz and sound just like he does with his Rick.

It is all in the fingers. lol

No question it is a great playing/sounding bass - as you have alluded to, don't need to play a Ric to sound like CS... (I could swear I've watched a better vid of this performance... maybe sadly no longer available...)

JIO

Thanks, I actually have that HOF show recorded. At the time I had HBO and it came on tv. If I could have arranged it, I never missed a YES tour for in America.

Thanks again

This is a more stabile video of that performance, but Geddy has less screen time in it.
