    List Your FAVORITE Bass System

Maybe my Ernie Ball coiled cable was wearing out or stepped on one two many times. It still worked, but the power and sound loss was apparently gradual, so I hadn’t realized it. Or, maybe you get what you pay for.

OKAY! If I want smart ass answers about playing the bass, I’ll talk to the wife. system: a set of things working together as parts of a mechanism or an interconnecting network.

    List Your FAVORITE Bass System

I believe it will be helpful to list our favorite bass system and our music genre(s) instead of just individual elements. Photos optional. Your favorite strings may be Super Slinky’s. But, if you’re playing heavy metal on an active Dingwall 5 string and I’m playing country rock on a passive 4...

Which bass case do you prefer: Hardshell, softshell, or a gig bag?

Hard shell. I’m old school, old, and, at times, clumsy. I bang my guitar around enough when it’s not in the case, so yes, give me that extra protection.

What kind of strings do you use?

Labella Flats Deep Talkin Bass strings on a 4 string 2019 Fender USA Professional Lightweight Ash Jazz played through a Trickfish Bullhead.5K and Trickfish 210 cabinet. Also, I recently bought a Fender cable which made an amazing difference to an already great sound. These flats through this...

    Club Trickfish!

I play a passive Fender Jazz through a TF Bullhead .5K amp and a TF 210 cabinet. This set up is extremely powerful with more boom than you can imagine coming from a Jazz and the can easily fill up a room with 100 plus people. The sound can also be very punchy in the mix if/when you want it...

Looking for cabinet (and possibly amp) advice

I recommend Trickfish. The cabinets are built like tanks and the Eminence Neodymium speakers sound fantastic. Also, I recommend, with this, the Trickfish Bullhead .5K amplifier. I believe you will want the complete system. I’ve got a TF210 cabinet that sounds amazing but you can purchase two...

Practice amp for a small room

I believe you should go with the Rumble 40. It’s cheap and efficient. You can purchase a used one for less than $200. The sound (for that price) is incredible. Also, you can always upgrade from there if/when you want.
