    Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

I just released this today and this seems like the place for it. I just did an album of ambient/post-rock music on bass guitar/loops/effects alone. I'm not sure if anything like this has been done but I thought it was both an interesting and fulfilling experiment. Everything from minimalist...

Released Today: an all-bass album of ambient/progressive/mulit-genre music

I should also probably note that the listening experience varies depending what kind of speakers/headphones you're using. There's alot of textural low end on some tracks that can only be heard with something that could pump out decent bass.

Released Today: an all-bass album of ambient/progressive/mulit-genre music

I'd like to share an album I just released on Bandcamp to my fellow bass nerds today. During down time from bands I recorded an album with just my bass, looper, and pedalboard as an experiment and ended up being quite pleased with the results. I'm interested in hearing some other opinions. I...

    Let Us Hear Your Band

This isn't my band per se, but I just released this today and I'm thinking no other community will appreciate this as much as my fellow bass nerds. It's a solo project that I did where I wrote and performed compositions using only my MIM Fender Jazz and modest pedal board of about seven effects...

Powerful and Loud Heads for a Grand or Less

Yea, its 8x8 so I never thought of the surface area as being a huge jump, but you've convinced me to give an 8x10 a try and see how I like it, thanks.

Powerful and Loud Heads for a Grand or Less

So an 8x10 would make that big of a difference? I've considered that route before but I thought they ran 4 ohm as well which would still cut the Coliseum down to 150 watt. Although if it will help that much I'll do definitely go that way and save some money and trouble.

Powerful and Loud Heads for a Grand or Less

I'll definitely look into this one.

Powerful and Loud Heads for a Grand or Less

4 ohms, which I know splits the Coliseum to 150 watts... my budget is right around $900.00

Powerful and Loud Heads for a Grand or Less

I've got a Sunn Coliseum 300 that I run out of an Ampeg 808 (I've also played it through 6x10s and 8x10s) that I dig, but I'm looking for something that can push more volume. Unfortunately most 300 watt tube heads are out of my price range so I was wondering if there were any other good secret...

Fret buzz on second fret with roundwounds?

Your information on the string installation is helpful, I'm new Fender style basses. I'm on the right track now and have a tech looking at it. I've gotten rid of the buzz and I'm almost done with the setup, so not alot left I can accomplish here. Can you explain to me what you mean by witness...

Fret buzz on second fret with roundwounds?

second fret of each string is where it's most noticeable but there was a little bit on the first and third fret of each string.

Fret buzz on second fret with roundwounds?

Yea I've been using the business card/capo since I don't have feeler gauges. I set up and old Peavey just fine but I'm also trying to be more careful with this instrument. The neck relief was fine where it was but again, fret buzz on the bottom frets.

Fret buzz on second fret with roundwounds?

I'm not sure how much these will help but I'm trying. Keep in mind these are from after I loosened the truss rod to get rid of the fret buzz. You see how high the action now is.
