    Highest output J pickups?

    I think my Ultra Jazz is my highest output... it is in a PJ with a Tonerider vintage-ish P pickup and they aren't quite matched, but they are close. I don't feel it is particularly middy though. I have Area Js in one bass and for a few years, had Model Js in another. They are both more middy...

    I have roughly two of each and... they are all pretty nice. When comparing them back to back, the Classic Vibes and Vintage Modifieds feel more quality to me. In stock form, the Classic Vibe series will sound the best to most. The Affinities have a more satin or less 'sticky' neck. I don't...

    I'd be thinking a MESA head and cab and a good Ampeg-ish pedal to get that more driven tone. To save a few $$$, maybe a heavier cab but $2500 should get you some great tones, esp if you dint need quite gig volumes right now. I'd be considering a D800+, a Subway 1x15 (or a 2x10 if you must...
