    What kind of strings do you use?

    I swap between Pressures (GHS) and Rounds (Sunbeams) on my P, though I mostly prefer the Pressures. I think pressures need more love.

    P bass pickup...

    I've heard good things from users of 60's style vintage wound pickups for funk, such as the ones fender produce, or the ones you can get from almost any custom pickup shop. You also may want to look into buying a dictionary.

    Your Tone Control Preferences

    I like my amps handling EQ. All I really need on a bass itself is a working volume knob, and maybe one tone knob for good measure .

    I tried fat beams once. They were a bit to metallic sounding for my taste. Found myself going right back to sun beams.
