What Percentage of Your Basses Were Bought Online?

In the early days of eBay I went for an insanely good deal on an “all original” 1970 Precision. Turned out to be a fair deal for a ‘74 with an after market pick guard and sanded neck. Won’t do that again. I could have bought my Jack Casady Epiphone online but opted to let my local music store...

SOLD Grateful Dead Wall of Sound Speaker

Agreed. After a year of contemplation I chose TB as a tentative first step. A toe dab, if you will. The responses I get here will likely inform my decisions going forward.

SOLD Grateful Dead Wall of Sound Speaker

I spied this and a 2 x 12 with the same history in the shop of a local luthier that was doing some set up work on one of my basses and, of course, expressed some interest. About a year later he was trying to raise some funds and offered to sell them to me. Not long after this he pointed me...

What are some of the warmup bands at concerts that blew you away

The Band opening for the Grateful Dead. Start of a lifelong love affair. Thin Lizzy opening for Kansas. AC/DC opening for Aerosmith. Didn't catch their name that night. Was a good month before I figured out who they were. Canned Heat opening for The Dinosaurs. Dr. John Opening for Jerry Garcia...

Much thanks. Just what I wanted to hear. That pink stuff has always been a pain.

Thin yellow layer on back wall - yes, good to know. Thick layer of pink on sides and bottom that looks about as old. Since you qualified your statement, AFAIK, might be prudent to let it be and get a second (or third) opinion. Thanks for your input.

Portaflex Cabinets Insulated? My '66 B-15 has pink and yellow fiberglass insulation in the cab. Can anybody tell me if it came from the factory that way.

    The Jazz Bass thread...

Here's mine. It's a stock '73. I was hoping someone could speak to rarity of this configuration. Have only seen the black block neck on a sunburst body on this one and the one played by Aston Barrett with the Wailers. Otherwise, all other burst JBs I have seen from the block era got the pearloid...

who has a bass no one on this board has?

1973 Jazz Bazz, Black blocks and tuxedo binding on a sunburst body. Besides the one played by Aston Barret with the Wailers, mine is the only other one I've seen. All other sunburst bodies I've seen came with pearloid blocks, whether the board was maple or rosewood, and only see black blocks on...
