I’ve used various brands and all have given up after quite short periods of time. This is in a home environment so weren’t subjected to any abuse like a gigging musician might give them. Are there any out there which stay the course?

Get some Pyramid Gold flatwounds on there ASAP. Will completely transform the sound.

Even if the bass body is light the neck may be heavier creating neck dive, something else to look out for. Hofner violin basses are a case in point.

Looking at it from a purely marketing point of view what can Fender actually do to make an ‘improved’ Pro? Maybe better quality and finish? Seems the reported differences are marginal or maybe subjective at best. Be interesting to see what benefits are going to be claimed for Pro lll :)
