What's the most worthless gear/bass you paid for?

Epiphone EB-0. Horrible sound. various Behringer pedals, although I like the V-Tone Vox Amplug Metal/Bass/Acoustic, but I love the Classic Rock model. It works great with bass guitar, unlike the other ones. Line6 Pocket POD. Plastic sound.

It's made in Korea (South ;)).

It feels more like an active P bass with a twist. I really like the split coil option in the bridge pup. My other basses are mostly Squier Jazz Bass and P Bass Special models, and this bass is not like them. It's more loud and punchy.

I try to get some clips done tomorrow. I record using Art Tube MP Studio V3 and there will be no effects or EQ tweaks. The strings are D'Addario Chromes (40-60-80-100), so don't expect big growl. ;)

    Fender strings?

I like Fender 7250ML Bass Guitar Strings, but I don't have more than a couple of hours experience of them, since I swap them for Chromes quite soon. So, Fenders are nice but I still prefer D'Addario Chromes.

    Fender strings?

The 7250's come preinstalled in most (if not all) Squiers and Fenders, and in my opinion they have good balanced sound. But since I don't like roundwounds, I just take them off and put D'addario Chromes instead. So, can't tell how they last or feel after breaking in. New ones feel good.

Schecter users: What do you use

D'addario Chromes all the way. They sound and feel great.

    chromes q - weak e?

I have Chromes on four basses and have no problems. That E string seems to be faulty.

Are higher priced basses really worth it?

If the more expensive bass inspires you to play more and be more attentive, then definately it pays off. This is how it works for me, although I only have quite basic gear. But I would like to have a top notch, flawless instrument, since I feel this would make me focus better. On the other...

    Schecter Diamond P Custom

I visited a local reseller today and grabbed the blue one with 559 €. The bass looks and plays fantastic. The finish is flawless and the colour is deep. Boy I'm a happy camper! I've been looking a decent bass for a while for a modest price, and this is it. Tuners are first class Grovers...

A little help with Rock Bass

Nice, I'll check out the Phrygian scale tomorrow. Yes, I prefer darker and heavier sounds; maybe that's why the major scale doesn't fit in. My drummer is a machine. :D It doesn't complain even though I might hit a bum note or have wrong timing. I'm not in a band, but rather jam with friends.

Why did you start playing bass?

I played guitar for years, but didn't like playing chords; I just wanted to play solos. I switched to bass to make things easier for me. Single notes are the way to go. ;)

A little help with Rock Bass

Thanks for the tip! I haven't tried Arabian scale before, but it sounds great. For some reason major pentatonic scale doesn't seem to fit to my playing. I've tried it many times, but it doesn't feel like rock to me.
