    Basses you made yourself?

Advice? Start getting your materials together. Get the best tonewoods that you can afford. Also know that the materials( back, sides, neck block, tuners, fingerboard, strings) will add up to the cost of a real nice ply bass. A ball park figure would be appx. $1800-$2000 for just decent...

    Basses you made yourself?

My dream was to own a blonde, handcarved DB. So I built one. It was a lot of tedious, hard work. But it was the most enjoyable project that I have ever undertaken. I turned much better than I had ever hoped.

Double Bass My bridge randomly flew off my bass.

I would check the fit of the feet. Also be sure that the bridge is staying perpendicular to the top while tuning . other than that, I would see a real bass setup/repair person.

Double Bass What makes a good Bluegrass Bassist ?

I am not a bass player, but have played mando in gospel groups for appx. 25 yrs. I agree that most guys, and especially non-musicians, can't tell a good bluegrass bassist from a great one. This light came on for me when our band was booked to play at Gospel Night at the Kentuckians of Mi. club...
