Now That I've Had Quadrupal Bypass Surgery

I have the same and the answer is no, they have no effect on active or passive basses.

New pickguard makes all the difference!

Screws. I took the white guard off my Stingray many years ago, similar colour to the OP, and put chrome dome headed screws back in the holes.

Bass similar to Aria Pro SBR or Westone Thunder without the weight?

May not be your thing but my Aria TSB650 is 32” scale and weighs 4kgs. (8.8lbs) Later models had the 2x2 headstock.

Are you a Stingray H or HH owner or both

2006 HH here bought last year to scratch the itch caused by stupidly selling a 1996 H many years ago. Great bass but I tend to exclusively use the bridge pickup with the switch in position 2. I still want that H back though.

    Hilarious negative assessments of musicians

No one famous but a guitarist I once worked with said of our ex drummer his playing sounded like someone pushing a steel bike shed down some concrete stairs.

Do you remember your first gig?

Yes it was a long time ago. And I’d rather forget it.

What are some of the more obscure string brands out there?

In the early days, Fender bought all their strings from a company called Squire, which they eventually bought. Don’t know about now.

There's a New Jazz Bass in Town

That’s a cocktail waitress in a Dolly Parton wig. ** Sorry but that just came to mind reading this. ** Trashy Women. Confederate Railroad

The Stingray I regret selling and can possibly get it back. 2007 Stingray 5HH

Similar story here. I bought a new Sunburst Stingray from Mannys in New York in 1996 that was just two weeks old. Confirmed with the serial no on the EB website. Brought it back to the UK shortly after. But it didn’t fit well will the music I was playing at the time, and I sold 2 or 3 years...

Tired of singers, songwriters and guitars?

A support singer guitarist at a concert many years ago spent his allotted time with a series of dirges about his life problems with little enthusiasm from the crowd. He then announced one more song, at which a loud voice at the front of the silent auditorium groaned “Oh God No”.

    Analog?

I’m waiting for the first bass amp with AI. It must surely be just around the corner.

I bought my first ever CD on the weekend.

My first CD was Dire Straits Brothers in Arms, followed shortly after by The KLF with Tammy Wynette Justified and Ancient. There were many more after that, most of them disposed of when we moved house, along with a fare bit of vinyl. I still have a Pioneer CD player and a couple of Goldring...

    Bad Moon Rising CCR

It’s just rock n roll, it doesn’t need anything more than roots and the odd fifth here and there.

Free (sort off) to a good home

Ditto. I have that filed away in the package of information for my children. It’s better than “I told you I was ill” (Spike Milligan).
