See, that's the thing, I like a bit of grit and harmonic richness to my tone. Most local music store had a bunch of Ashdowns and smaller Hartkes, the former which I found to be very transparent yet totally sterile. The Hartkes were a bit more "full" but did not have any standout characteristics...
E.g Vox for the chimey midrange, Marshall for classic rock and British high gain, Fender for the cleans and bluesy overdrive, Mesa Boogie for tight American high-gain, etc, etc.
Obviously the differences will be more subtle for bass amps and will require more discerning ears, but was wondering...
That was my first bass ever! The tones were perfectly serviceable, but it is still my favorite in terms comfort and playability. As those are highly subjective and a matter of personal preference, YMMV, ofc.
Basically I want to get 100 percent of coloration (drive, ambiance, compression, IRs, etc) from Reaper using my Zoom G3 as a USB interface.

A) Use a Sansamp or other DI model
B) Turn off every single patch
