I do both, depending on what the song is asking for. With practice, the playing the 5th higher thing does get easier. On the BG, I avoided open strings. I still lean that way on upright, but am much more willing to go there.

I imagine that this is the time when the spring and summer festivals are booking. But damned if I can find a cohesive list of BG / BG-friendly festivals. Does such an animal exist?

Weird. Unpacked the gear, plugged it all up so I could find the culprit, and it worked fine. Tried shaking stuff to make it NOT work, and couldn't make it fail. :hmm:
