My 2008 Z2 does not have the rounded shells. It has FD-3 in wooden rectangular shells. I'm not the original owner, so I don't know the exact time it was made. But the original owner said "ordered in 2006, shipped in 2008", so my guess is first half of 2008.

It's so hard to decide which one to play first...

Yep, same experience as @Selta (except with the Troutdale OR location). Also, had two of my shipments sit in Hodgkins IL (basically Chicago) for several days. That's why I prefer local deals these days and drove 6+ hours round trip last weekend to pick up my latest bass.

Ohh that K&M looks nice, though. Crazy expensive - but apparently that's the direction I always end up going... Does anyone happen to have experience with that one? It looks like it would keep the instruments nicely separated :)

Not a Dingwall question, but... since we are on the topic, err... I have one of those [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (not an affiliate link, just trying to show what I use) - and I really struggle not to have the basses hit each other when I pick one up / put one down. Are there better stands...

Oh, Sheldon Dingwall is a frequent poster here and amazing in the service that he provides. I don't think Dingwall even has a "register your bass" feature. Yeah, I have zero doubt that if one of my Dingwalls had a problem, I would get outstanding support from them. That's a very different story...

I absolutely love your optimism. And your obviously very positive experiences with companies. I have no basis to disagree with you or to claim that you are wrong, as so far I haven't sued a US musical instrument company, either. Mostly because suing companies gets you nowhere. And unless you are...

Well, yes. But... how do you enforce this right? Taking Spector to court? It is far, far preferable to simply follow their little schemes and be in their system if you ever need their help. I'm in the middle of fighting a MEGALOCORP over a defective component they installed in my house. And I...

SOLD Spector NS2a cherry sunburst ca 1988

Oh, the fourth picture looks like there is a big scratch on the back - I hadn't noticed this or I would have retaken the picture. That's just a reflection - happy to take more pictures if there are questions...
