My 2008 Z2 does not have the rounded shells. It has FD-3 in wooden rectangular shells. I'm not the original owner, so I don't know the exact time it was made. But the original owner said "ordered in 2006, shipped in 2008", so my guess is first half of 2008.

That makes sense. Mine was delivered early October 2008. Its also entirely possible that they phased in and started with the 5-string pickups which would have been the ones most used and therefore stock would have turned over more rapidly. That Z is a 6 string, right?

More poking around shows that the square edged FD's were indeed in use still in 2009. But again, some models like my own Z have rounded shells.

I'm wondering if they held the round pickups for the Z and Prima series for a few years. The more I think about it, that sounds correctish to me but at the time I wasn't paying that much attention.

I think so. The Sjs moved to the rounded SF1s earlier, the Primas and Zs adapted the rounded FD3s earlier then the ABs AFAIRecall which does make it a bit convoluted.
Early Zs and and Primas also optionally used SF1s again going to the skinny rounds leaving the squares in the ABs a bit later. Then the ABZ came out with the EMG sized pups about the same time as the combustion. Maybe the exact same time?

back to your original comment though, your probably right that the bass originally in question is older due to the switch on it. I missed that. Could it be an 09 maybe?!? But I bet your closer with it being 2006-2008

Last of of the BluEQubes were 2008. :) So no later than that. Though I think the older knobs suggest that it's pre 2006.

Their regular headstock looks kinda weird paired with fanned fret neck…Dingwall did fanned bass design from scratch making sure everything matches but I see other builders just trying to copy-paste fanned fretboard into their regular design basses which sometimes looks nonsense.

I don't think there's any confirmation Peavey is going after this market. A couple months back a Peavey rep came to TB to seek input on multi-scale, which there certainly was ample thrown at them. If that was them starting the journey, ish, and if they take that input given, do things "correctly", it'll be quite awhile before we hear anything, I'd think. If they half-ass it or cut corners, could be quicker, but IMO would just be another has-been trying to catch up. Peavey could execute well and bring some interesting things to the table... but if they just slap a multi-scale neck on an old offering, that won't be great. IMO, blah blah.

I am pretty sure he said they want to take full advantage of thier new European factory and put out a great product.
