Suggestions needed for small battery powered amp/combo for acoustic jam.

Subscribed. I’m in similar situation, except more guitars, fiddles, ukes, mandos, harmonicas…. Everyone seems fine with bass needing amp support as long as I’m supporting the music and paying attention to my volume levels. I have a Boss Dual Cube Bass LX and use a small 9V battery bank...

Where to pick back up after a few years off?

I just got back in reasonable shape after about 7 years of mostly cold turkey. For me it took about 9 months. I was really lucky that I fell into a weekly acoustic jam. Jamming with them and practicing the songs in between, i just played my first gig since restarting. I agree with the others...

    G&L "L-2XXX A" PCB?

Thanks for the info. Yes, my coil selector is a 4pdt switch. However I’d like to replace with a 4p3t as part of the single coil mod. This PCB just seemed like a convenient way to consolidate the wiring in the control cavity. It’s quite busy in there.

    G&L "L-2XXX A" PCB?

On my L-2000, that is the coil switch position (the middle switch), not the pickup selector. It doesn't appear that the latest switch from G&L includes that PCB, so I'm guessing someone just created it as a one-off? Sure would be nice to clean up the control cavity and reduce the number of...

    G&L "L-2XXX A" PCB?

Hmmm... I don't think that's it. Of course, it's possible I'm just dense, and the newest revision of the pre-amp makes it moot. To be clear, I'm talking about this:, which is NOT the preamp.

    G&L "L-2XXX A" PCB?

Sorry if this has been well trodden, but I can't seem to find any specifics on my question. Or maybe I'm just dumb... In this wiring diagram, there is a picture of a PCB labelled "L-2XXX A" attached to the series/parallel switch of a G&L bass, which seems to substantially reduce the complexity...

$57 Lekato wireless guitar system review

I just purchased a Lekato WS-50. Charged it up and tried it in my house. It connected and sounds good, and even has descent range, as long as I have line of sight between the transmitter and the receiver. However, as soon as I begin to lose line of sight, it gets garbled. That includes if my...

    Musical memory?

I appreciate all the thoughts. The post about reducing the "number" of pieces of information through a better understanding and application of theory makes sense. That said, a few others confirm my suspicion that some are born with "audiographic" memory. At least maybe theory can help me...

    Musical memory?

I hear you about making it up as you go. That worked well until we started recording, at which point there was "evidence". ;) do you have trouble picking out baselines by ear? I'll try the vitamins.

    Musical memory?

I'm trying to improve my ear through practicing playing along with songs. Doing this got me to thinking about "musical memory", a term a former band mate used regarding the ability to hear a passage and then be able to recall it correctly. We had a drummer who could listen one time to...

Joined my first band - at age 37 !

After years if rocking out garages and woodsheds (literally), I joined my first actual band about a year ago. We've done at least 20 gigs since then. I'm 38 and convinced you're never too old...

    TB for iPhone/PDA/Mobile

Suggestion: let links "do their thing" rather than launch a browser window inside the app. Why? Launching YouTube vids and other things inside the app is pretty lame. Exception - links to talkbass.com.

pretty much agree, except I'd add missing springs to the unacceptable list.

    NBD: 2008 AmStd Jazz V - Anticipointment

BTW - Did I mention the white speckling all over the bass. I was certain it was overspray. I've told the seller about all these issues. He is saying he sells stuff for a friend that owns a music shop and he should have checked it more carefully... Here is his latest response via eBay: "Hi...

    NBD: 2008 AmStd Jazz V - Anticipointment

Good thought, but I don't think so. I've changed the pickup height from all the way down to all the way up, and everything in between. I'm almost certain this has to do with the this string and the taper. I will know for sure in a couple of days though.
