I did. I got a very good sound and could bow it. I made them for 3 years. The pickup had a scoop in it that needed to be flattened on the bridge which meant scraping the area under the bridge flat to bring out the low end.

I had 2 of them. They both had the same problem. I was told there was something with the power supply. So I got the mb200 and a small eden cabinet and had no trouble. This was in the mid 90's

Don't bother, it's too beat up and not worth the amount of money you would have to spend.

I talked to some people who heard that trio, they said you could barely hear Scotty, his action was so low. You could hear him much better on records. Its hard to recreate a sound without actually hearing it live. Golden spirals were a gut string wrapped in roundwound type plastic.

My son is a bassist in middle school orchestra. The teacher gave him a set of 2 octave scales that used alto clef for higher notes. It has been 30 years since I have been in music school for bass but in all my books tenor clef is used. Has something changed?

I guess I was trying to say unsuccessfully is that there was not an issue about learning it as "backwards" either way is compatible with left handed-ness. The most successful left-handed bassist I knew was Earl May who played with Dizzy and Coltrane. He didn't even re-tune it. He just played it...

Start with the easiest and work your way up. I have not used his books but have seen examples from his books, I thought to use them for my students and I will in the future.

2 things. 1. Find the recordings and play along with Paul's solo. Work on the nuances of the time. 2. Jim Stinnett is a wonderful bassist he was at North Texas state in the one o'clock band, and knows his stuff. I've looked st his reading book and it's quite good.

I had this problem too. It was in the spring in the 1/4" assembly. Fishman sent me another and it worked fine.

I have played successfully as a left handed player playing right handed.and there are some advantages. Fingering was much easier. I had to work on my pizzicato a little more, but bowing French or German style was no problem. Having a good left hand on the fingerboard is a definite advantage.

In the 60s and 70s Pollmans were not the instruments they are today. Some of the ones we got in the shop had green wood sprung cracks. They were also very thick on the top. Sometimes over an inch. The ones with good wood which were played in well were great instruments.
