Ever wanted to buy back your long lost bass?

I have 2, a T-40 (Black w/maple) and the bass I sold the T-40 to fund the purchase of, an Ibanez Roadstar II (seafoam reverse P/J). Both were stellar instruments, but I was young, and evidently incapable of understanding how good they really were at the time.

    NBD!

Congrats on the new bass. Seeing a Rumblekat in the wild makes me want one of my own that much more. (It hasn't quite topped my GAS for an G&L L2000, but its oh so close.) Best wishes and happy playing!

How's the bass selection in your town?

In my town, the music store is open a day or two a month, with no rhyme or reason as to when, at best they have 2-3 basses. Last time around, he only had a lower end Yamaha, and a Squier VM Jazz. BUT the owner has a pretty stellar selection of strings, 4,5,6, multiple brands even on flats, and...

NBD: a Craigslist ad and $60 later....

That's a great grab. In have a Kingston 4, with a rosewood board, and it is far and away my favorite bass. Congratulations on your NBD!

If You Had to Choose One Bass and Only One!!!

One I own would be (apologies to my Peavey): My MTD Kingston 4. If it were expanded to basses I do not own, an L2K w/ K wiring would cover all of my bass needs. I hope this doesn't mean I couldn't occasionally fool around with someone elses fretless, though. That would make me quite sad, if I...

    Short Scale Basses.

I used to have a 25.5 inch scale Memphis strat-bass strung ADGC that was a super fun bass to rip into, and logged more then a few hours on an EB3. To this day, whenever I scan Rondo, my eye always goes to some sort of short scale.

Why did you quit your last band?

The singer/guitarist had a pretty substantial drinking problem, and a girl-friend with alcohol (and other) issues. Up to that point, I didn't mind alcohol at practices, in moderation. I'd knock back a couple myself. But it got to a point where either the Singer and/or his girlfriend would be...

What one specific thing do you feel helped elevate your playing

One thing? Practising with a metronome/drum pattern. Not a replacement for being in a live setting, but it helps develop internal time. Honorable mention would be proper breathing. I had a bad habit of holding my breath while playing more difficult segments of songs, until I read or watched...

    Pedals you keep Re-Buying

Eyeing another Big Muff (owned two BM-Pi's over the years) as well as another Danelectro Daddy-O overdrive, to replace the previous two that I've (unfortunately) let go over the years.

    What's your favorite SOUNDING album?

A compilation called "Songs in the key of X". It was a collection of songs featured on the X-Files over the years. Elvis Costello, Danzig, Brian Eno, Frank Black, Nick Cave and the Bad Seed, to name a few artists, anyway, the producers of the album did a light scooping of the eq, across the...

best advice you ever got from an experienced player...

Something from a Stu Hamm video, but good advice, for me, anyway. "Always remember to breath." It's a simple statement, but in my case clicked. I had a bad habit of holding my breath through more challenging segments of song, and didn't even realize I was doing it.

    Question About Peavey T-40

I had an '81, black/black/maple, with the fitted case, and to this day, I regret selling it. Tone for miles, very much a swiss army bass, but also very much it's own strange, beautiful creature. For my $.02, the only con was the weight. Possibly the heaviest bass I've played, with only an...
