Pedals you keep Re-Buying

I have sold a EHX Cathedral and a TC Electronics Hall of FAME and I'm trying to buy one of them back, hopefully a Cathedral.

I sold a Musket, and then rebought one. I will know better next time.

I've bought three rats and sold them all. Not for me.

I've bought the Mallekko 616 twice and sold it twice. Just not for me. Great pedal but I prefer the cold crispness of a digital delay.

I bought and sold the Billy Sheehan signature drive pedal a couple times…don't miss it now.

I think it's hilarious how sometimes we need to buy and sell a pedal a couple/few times to realize that it's absolutely right, and sometimes we do it to realize that it's just wrong.

(after many pedals and rigs throughout the years, changing cabs seems to make pedals sound totally differently…Can I try them all again?)

I'm more of a hoarder than a flipper, but the EHX Enigma Q-Balls and the Digitech Bass Synth Wah are both pedals that got kicked off the board for awhile, only to return. The Boss OC-2 gets kicked off and put back on pretty regularly. It tends to be the first thing to go when I need to make room, and the first thing to come back when space opens up. And I have experienced a bit of "seller's regret" in regards to the MXR Bass Distortion and MXR Bass Envelope Filter.

I finally realised that the few pedals I bought back (and ended up reselling) are just not meant to be part of my core sound. For the record, these are:

- MXR Stereo Chorus (3 times)
- MXR Bass Octave Deluxe (twice)
- MXR Phase 90 block (twice)
- Digitech Bad Monkey (twice)
- Digitech Bass Driver (twice)
- Digitech Bass Synth Wah (twice)
- Tech21 VTBass DI (twice)
- Tech21 VTBass v.2 (twice)
- Boss CS-3 (twice)
- Boss AW-3 (twice)
- Boss GEB-7
- EHX Small Stone (twice)

The pedals that I bought back a 2nd time and have been on my board for some time are the SansAmp PBDDI, Boss LS-2 and Zoom MS60B. The SansAmp IS my core sound and I finally understood how to get the most out of the 60B and for that, I need an LS-2.

It's been almost 40 years since I've re-bought anything (when I was a teenager one of my bandmates and I kept reselling the same Mutron III back & forth several times). But I'm beginning to feel the urge to buy another Oberheim Echoplex Digital Pro; never should have sold the one I had ~10 years ago, and I kick myself almost daily for parting with that one.

Also, if my Ibanez AF-9 ever completely craps the bed I'll definitely try to find another one.

EHX HOG 3x (too much pedal every time to leave it on one setting)
EHX Bass Micro Synth 2x (too cool of a sound!)
Moog Freqbox 2x (still own it and should've never sold it the 1st time)
BJFE BBBOD 3x (I realized that I just don't dig the blanket over the amp sound)
Roland Jet Phaser 2x (too much $$$ to gig with)

Bought and sold 5 barbershops over the last few years. 1 v1, 1 modelB , and 3 ME editions.
I love the barbershop, but I also know I can sell them pretty easy in order to get something else, and they are readily available to re purchase. I'm sure I will own one again.

Whoops, I forgot that I've also had 2 Barbershops. It is getting increasingly hard to keep track of my pedal history.

Excellent point here...sometimes my pedal flips have come after changing amps, cabs, or basses. Even changing something else in my chain can have a massive difference.

I've got a new bass en route someday that has some significant differences from my current main player...I'm eager to hear what it sounds like with my current lineup!

I purchased 3 Jext Telez Dizzy Tones, and 3 Gnomeratron VTFs, but I've never sold one. Kept them all.

I tend to hoard gear, so the 20 or so pedals I've sold in my life were around A LONG TIME, and proved repeatedly over the course of years, that they were not right for me. So I'm never tempted to repurchase.
Here I am eating my words. Last night in a bit of a stupor I was seduced by a ridiculously low price, and made my first repurchase of a previously scorned pedal. A Zvex Ooh Wah II is coming back after about 3 or 4 years. This will be fun.
