I want a balance control as well, it enables you to use your master volume to cello notes (hit the note with volume all the way down then raise the volume for a cello sound) I used to use this tecnique to play the start of wonderwall (such memories) but you can't do this on a regular Jazz Bass.

A little update, I used my TB500c on Saturday with an Ashdown Mag 1 X 15" ext cab and was blown away by the sound from my setup, as were the rest of the band.

I think based on the fantastic sound coming from the amp last night I think I am putting all amp changing / Modding plans to one side..... this might be the one.

TBH, I only ever use one bass sound, If I feel the need to vary it, I tend to play differently (Slap, Pick or finger) or roll off a little of the neck pickup on my jazz. I have a TB500c and it has such a gorgeous tone to start off with.

What would be a "Good" 12AT7?

I think just spotted something, my Ohm selector was set to 4 Ohms, and I was just using the combo's internal speakers which are 8 ohm. I wonder if that would cause the sound to be strangled, I noticed that the volume on the combo didn't seem to get any louder past a certain point on the dial...

Does anybody fancy one of these Orange TB500c Combo's? I would be willing to trade if something equally tasty was offered.

Firstly, there is no internal connection between the head and the speakers, for some reason you need to connect the head to the cab with the included short speakon lead.......I bet I lose mine one day. It would have made so much more sense to have a captive lead from the head to the cab that...

Why? Couldnt you Just turn the 500watt head down? You can always turn down but it's harder to turn up if you don't have the horsepower lol

I am pretty sure the combo is a sp212 with a terror bass amp bolted to the top of it. Why wouldn't it be a good match?
