Orange tb500c

Yes, on this head the Bass and Treble are boost only and the Mid is cut only - much like a fender tone stack. Tubes have nothing to do with the circuitry. Check out Tom Bowles's magazine's review of this head as they confirmed this.

+1 Don't be confused by what's written on the box. (And the controls are backwards!)

It's a cool amp tho, and with some padding and careful eq it can do clean easily and LOUD.

Congrats to the proud new owner(s) here!

I have the TB500c and have been using it with both my rock and disco bands and it sounds absolutely beautiful, I have found the best sound for me personally is bass and treble at 12 o'clock and the middle up as high as it will go.

Not convinced about the volume though, might have to invest in an SP212 to go with it. One thing I did notice is that the sound doesn't seem to be as directional as my Ashdown ABM rig, I found that if I went off axis with my Ashdown my bass disappeared, but with this combo, bass seems to be everywhere in the room.

Haven't gigged it yet, but have done a couple of loudish rehearsals, so I will post again after I do the ultimate bass killer gig, a rugby club beer festival in a marquee. I think the combo will cope as it doesn't have rear porting like the ABM which is ok if you can place it strategically at the sweet spot distance away from a wall, which is all wasted when playing in a tent. I am sure the bass sound behind the marquee would have been brilliant.

Bass isn't directional, so you are either talking about mids, or room nulls caused by reflections. If you hadn't got the middle up, I'd have assumed the former, because the inherent mid scoop would mean they aren't out front either.

The SP cabs might not be a good match for the combo because they probably aren't that similar to the one in the combo.

I bought the Terror Bass head for smaller gigs/small stage plots or gigs with difficult access. I pair it with two of the Orange 115 cabs. Big fat full vintage tone just how I like it. I highly recommend this amp! I even bring it along as a backup for my Hiwatts.

I think just spotted something, my Ohm selector was set to 4 Ohms, and I was just using the combo's internal speakers which are 8 ohm.

I wonder if that would cause the sound to be strangled, I noticed that the volume on the combo didn't seem to get any louder past a certain point on the dial.

Would this be like running a 4 ohm amp through a 8 Ohm cab, where the amp only puts out about half power?

I am going to test my theory at a gig this saturday, I also have my 1 X 15 ashdown Cab just in case I need it.

Sold my svt-av for the bt500c and I don't miss the svt one bit. This amp sounds amazing and any venue that this wouldnt be loud enough for will mic your amp. This is the bass sound I have been looking for.

OMG, I did a gig last night with my TB500c on top of a Ashdown MAG 1X15" Cab, I have never felt so good about my sound ever, period. It was warm, deep, loud, in fact everything a body needs. It was really nice the way that the preamp just started to get a little dirtier when I dug in hard in some places.

It saw off everything from Abba to Beyonce to old school rock and roll / soul... Simply Brilliant.

Low B's were earth moving especially with the 15" Extension cab, just phenomenal.

I have changed my mind I am keeping it now lol.
