Framus Star Bass Reissue 5/150 Pickguard/Pickups

Dear GW: Thanks for the reply. You would have to have the guitar in your hands to know what I'm talking about. The whole thing is secured only on one side. There's nothing to stop the pickups from banging against the body or coming up and hitting the strings. To be honest, it's not something I'm...

Framus Star Bass Reissue 5/150 Pickguard/Pickups

Does anyone here own the Framus Star Bass Reissue that came out a while back? I'm talking about the one with the pickups and wiring all attached to the pickguard. What's to keep the whole contraption from bouncing up and down and hitting the strings? I noticed that on the original there was a...

What flatwound strings for Framus Star Bass?

Does anyone have the Framus Star Bass Reissue? Have you put flatwounds on it? If so, which ones?

Framus Star Bass Reissue Truss Rod Cover

I just acquired a Framus Star Bass Reissue with no truss rod cover. Anyone have any idea where I can find one? Or anything that would fit? I found a Framus truss rod cover on ebay but it's for a Framus guitar and doesn't fit on my bass. This is probably going to be as hard as finding a case for it!

Anyone changed strings on the Chris Hillman Signature Guild Starfire?

I can tell you that the d'addario chromes ECB81M fit perfectly on the new Starfire bass. You need medium scale. They need to be about 34 inches from ball to silk. La Bella medium scale flats should also fit. And there's also the DR medium scale flatwounds. Guild shipped the Hillman...

Anyone changed strings on the Chris Hillman Signature Guild Starfire?

I find the chromes way too bright and clangy. The E string especially just clangs against the frets. If you want the feel of flatwounds and the sound of roundwounds, chromes may be just the ticket. Not for me. I'm waiting on a set of Pyramid flats which I ordered direct from the company.

Anyone changed strings on the Chris Hillman Signature Guild Starfire?

Did the T-I's fit okay? I thought they didn't fit without winding string rather than silk on the E string.

Anyone changed strings on the Chris Hillman Signature Guild Starfire?

I understand the Guild Signature Starfire bass (all 70 of them!) came with D'Addario Chromes. Those of you who got one... I was wondering how you found those strings. Did you change to a different set of flatwounds? If so, what kind?

    Epiphone Rivoli... '64 vs reissue

Ah, I see! I thought the original was toggle. I see now that the reissue has a black button matching the black knobs and the original is gold to match the gold knobs. And I see your schematics. Thanks very much.

    Epiphone Rivoli... '64 vs reissue

A friend of mine has a reissue Epiphone Rivoli which has a push button tone thing. Not sure what it does, but supposedly it causes a lot of noise no matter how it's used and I've heard that people disable it to quiet things up. I notice that an original Rivoli... a '64 let's say... has a...

Stolen: Hofner Club Bass 500/2, Reward

My beloved Hofner Club Bass was stolen yesterday in front of my door in San Francisco, along with a Danelectro Baby Sitar that I just got. The Hofner is a recent model, made in Germany. Sunburst. It was in a gig bag with Vox bass cable and Snark tuner. I know its a longshot but if anyone sees...
