Does anyone have the Framus Star Bass Reissue? Have you put flatwounds on it? If so, which ones?

I just acquired a Framus Star Bass Reissue with no truss rod cover. Anyone have any idea where I can find one? Or anything that would fit? I found a Framus truss rod cover on ebay but it's for a Framus guitar and doesn't fit on my bass. This is probably going to be as hard as finding a case for it!

I can tell you that the d'addario chromes ECB81M fit perfectly on the new Starfire bass. You need medium scale. They need to be about 34 inches from ball to silk. La Bella medium scale flats should also fit. And there's also the DR medium scale flatwounds. Guild shipped the Hillman...

I find the chromes way too bright and clangy. The E string especially just clangs against the frets. If you want the feel of flatwounds and the sound of roundwounds, chromes may be just the ticket. Not for me. I'm waiting on a set of Pyramid flats which I ordered direct from the company.

Did the T-I's fit okay? I thought they didn't fit without winding string rather than silk on the E string.

I understand the Guild Signature Starfire bass (all 70 of them!) came with D'Addario Chromes. Those of you who got one... I was wondering how you found those strings. Did you change to a different set of flatwounds? If so, what kind?

Ah, I see! I thought the original was toggle. I see now that the reissue has a black button matching the black knobs and the original is gold to match the gold knobs. And I see your schematics. Thanks very much.
