Here are my twin babies... Both are '81 model with ebony fretboard and weight slightly under 10lbs. I have taken out the preamp because i play them only in passive mode. Now each pickup can be independtly used in OMG, parallel or single coil setting... like a L1000 with 2 MFD pickups!

Both are strunged with Thomastik JF344 flat! They have a sweet vintagey vibe with the L2000e!

I almost have the same bass... with 2 pickups! I moded mine to a full passive config. As a result, i have an L1000 electronic on each pickup!:cool: What a great instrument! And I confirm, these lawsuit ebony necks are a dream to play.

I have a '81 black L1000 made of soft mapple. (body wood can be determined after a closed inspection of the neck pocket). She isn't too heavy and sounds thunderous!:D I also owned a '83 black soft maple El Toro which was noticeably heavier. Under the solid color you can find a western soft...

i almost have the same vintage G&L family!:cool: '81 maple-ebony L1000, '81 hog-ebony L2000E FL (full passive mod), '83 Passive maple-rosewood El Toro. The L1000 is my go to bass. Nothing beats its simple electronic... One pickup but a lot of sounds!:bassist:

I play mine with my 'ole Ampeg V4, and it sounds fat and punchy! You can't go wrong with a L2000 Tribute. You have to tweak the pots a little to find your sound, because the MFD have a hot output! If you buy it, do a favor to you, add the K mod to have the single coil option along with...
