Pretty sure the Nut is there, your right to say its a similar colour as the wood. How the strings have been strung however looks odd.

Grooveshark is a good tool also for learning songs without the requirement of downloading. Similar to spotify.

I just purchased a set. Good price compared with other strings, normally i use D'Addario, but willing to try something else if it will save me some coin in the future. I will comment on my experience one i have them on.

Not sure if any help but recently watched a rig rundown for flea and his tech puts ghs boomers on his guitars, however he changes them every day. I have been thinking of trying a set myself and found everyones opinions very helpful.
