    A random question

Hey everyone, a random thought occurred to me this morning. String windings are always towards the direction of the ball, does anyone know if there's a reason for this, and if it would make any difference if they were wound in the other direction? TIA

Why is it so difficult to buy a set of jazz pickups that are the same size?

I approached epic custom shop and it just turned into a hassle. So I haven't bothered, but the hum is driving me bats.

SOLD Seymour Duncan Apollo Jazz Bass Pickup 5-string Set

What would be a good precision style pup to pair this with? I thought there would be more out there for 5 strings.

No one listens to the bass player

This is interesting. I'm jamming with a couple of guys - one is a drummer I played with years ago , in my previous life as a guitarist, the other his tag along who would spend the night transfixed by what I was doing on the guitar, regarding it as his gold standard to aspire to (I'm not being...

New Rotosounds dead out of package?

Got a set of rs steels, 45 - 130 and they were dead before I even played them. Tried that ska kerning and snapping trick, nothing there either. They're dreadful. First time trying rotos as they're meant to be so good but at $70.00, I won't ever take the gamble again.

    Why play a four string?

I hear ya. 5 strings is a bottom line for me now. It open the instrument up in so many ways, and if I go to a 4 string now I just get annoyed with how limited it is. Making the transition is easy as the fingering conventions are the same, but with a lot more position shifts possible. Moving to...

    Artist bass guitar

It's got quite a buzz, and the blend pot seems act like a linear pot in that all the action is in about 1/16th of a turn. Yeah it's not top end but there's really something about it. And it was cheaper than a squier, but far better build quality. It's a VHBY-5, here's the link. Artist VHYB5...

    Hi from new zealand

Thanks, matey! Oh there will be questions, lol The issues I'm having atm are most likely covered way in the depths of a forum somewhere - there's only so many things that can go wrong with an instrument. How's the heat over there?

    Hi from new zealand

Hi everyone, super glad to become a part of the community. Bass was my first love, and my ibanez roadstar bass. Artist bass guitar

Has anyone had any experience of artist basses? I got one last week and Instantly fell in love with it but it has electronic issues. I'm wondering if anyone has had the same thing and it's an easy fix. Not keen on returning it for an exchange in case the replacement isnt as special.
