I've always turned them off. Not only did I not care for their sound, I found them to to be hissy when you're not playing. My Rumble 15's go from dead quiet to having a line noise hiss when the tweeter is turned on. Same, but quite as bad with the Ampegs I've owned.

Mine got delivered last Friday. It took about an hour before I knew I couldn't live with the stock strings, so I immediately threw a set of chromes on mine. It was a little scary bringing them into tune. Reading that Guild was ok with it makes me feel alot better.
